Tread

My target was to have the same floor in the stairway than in the ground and upper floor.

First of all I bought a angle gauge to build the form of the different treads.

The start was to drill some holes into the single treads and put dowel and screws in These. It is enough to use 6 to 8 pieces for each tread.

With a spirit Level I adjusted the screws to the same height.

Afterwards I bought a white 12mm chipboard and cut it so that I could use it as a riser.

Now I have done the basic work and I could go on with the treads.

With the angular gauge I copied the first tread and duplicated this to a sheet of three-layer plate (spruce).

I used 2cm additional at the front so that I will have a overhang.

Next step was to cut the prepared tread and check it at the stairway.

Back in the Workshop I started with the most tricky part - the flooring process...

I put the single floor elements with a glue to the three-layer plate. On the "straight" elements it was very easy, but on the unsimmetric ones was it a little bit more complex.

After the glue was dried I went on with the cutting.

The front has to be cutted at an angle of 45° so that the front can be covered afterwards. A thin plate of the Floor elements were glued together and cut at 45° too.

Now both pieces could be fixed and glued together.

I placed the guide rail on the wood and cut along the form of the three-layer plate.

Finally I sanded the whole surface with 120 and 240 and took care of the edge at the front so that it is no more sharp.

With a special foam I have fixed the treads at the stairway.
