Since I can remember my parents have had a garden. Now they are in an age where the motivation leaves to go by car to this garden.  

But especially my mother likes herbs, fresh vegetables and flowers.

So my sister and me planned to build a raised bed for their balcony.

First of all we checked the ideal measurements, so that there is a free space on the balcony too.

The next step was to buy the material in the DIY-market. We decided to pine, because this is more rugged.

Back at home I started to trim the boards with the mitre saw to the calculated length.

• 2 side walls
• Front 
• Back

With a vertical pile I fixed the horizontal pine boards. Therefor I used M10 carriage bolts.

In fact of the weight I decided to put a raised floor inside. It is approximately 30cm deeper than the upper end.

Before the filling of the raised bed with plant soil we put a foil inside so 

• that the wood is protected against water
• that the soil cannot fall down to the bottom

On the upper side I fixed a board so that you can put some garden tooling on it during the working.

Finally we filled the raised bed with a mix of compost and plant soil to gurantee a good growth for the plants.
